HNBGU GETS FULL-TIME VC AFTER EIGHT MONTHS
Dehradun/Pauri: The newly appointed full time vice chancellor of the HNB Garhwal Central University, Professor Jawaharlal Kaul is expected to join office by November end or December 1. The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has appointed Kaul as the full-time vice chancellor of HNB Garhwal Central University Srinagar (Garhwal) with the university receiving an official letter in this regard.
After the term of vice chancellor Professor SP Singh ended in February 2014 the university was first governed by Prof MMS Rawat as the acting vice chancellor after which Prof LG Singh was handling the charge.The university has now issued a notification regarding the appointment of a full time vice chancellor.
The Garhwal Central University registrar PC Rana informed that the newly appointed full time vice chancellor Prof Kaul had been working as the vice chancellor of Vikram University, Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) and is expected to join the post by the end of November or on December 1. The university is getting a full time vice chancellor after a gap of eight months.It is worth mentioning here that for more than a month now the university students have been agitating in support of their 14 point demands.
In spite of the written assurance by the acting vice chancellor Prof LG Singh, the agitating students had been putting pressure on him to initiate action against the dean.However, Singh had stressed that taking the demanded action was beyond his authority and that only a full time vice chancellor could take a call on the issue. A senior professor, Singh is slated to retire on December 31 this year.
