Need to Develop a State Song

Dehradun: There is a need of developing a state song where there is inclusion of all regions of the states. Efforts will have to be made to connect the new age youth to our local culture. Our local heritage has a lot of variety. We will have to make efforts to conserve it. The state government is ready to extend all support for this.
While inaugurating a the book ‘Garhwali Gaathaon Mein Lok aur Devta’ at Bijapur Guest House, the Chief Minister Harish Rawat said, ” the government is making all possible efforts to save our local culture and heritage.
Two museums to be made for tribal culture
Two museums will also be made for conservation of musical instruments. The committee will think and identify a musical instrument for the state.
Complementing the author of the book, Dr Virendra Barthwal, the Chief Minister Harish Rawat said that the book includes both Lok Gaathas and Lok Devtas. “Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage is very rich,” he added.
The CM said that Jagar is very important and the Jagars of Kumaon, Garhwal and the entire state must be compiled. He said that Doon University must carry out the work of compilation and also conserve manuscripts.
The CM stated that the state’s authors must work on taking the state’s language to a higher level and the government will support authors who wish to write about local culture. He has appealed to the local singers to compile a song which includes all the regions of the state. The government will give a prize money for this.
The education minister MP Naithani congratulated the author Dr Barthwal and gave directions to include books about local heritage in all school libraries.He expressed happiness over the book being inaugurated by the Chief Minister Harish Rawat.
Present on the occasion were Cabinet Minister Preetam Singh, Famour singer Preetam Barthwan, Senion Journalist Rajeev Nayan Bahuguna, Jai Singh Rawat and other senior personalities.
