Race to finish Rudraprayag-Gaurikund Highway on time

State planning to take matters into own hands in case of Rudraprayag-Gaurikund Highway

Rudraprayag: Seeing the snail’s pace at which the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway is being reconstructed by the Border Road Organization the state government has decided to take matters into own hands. With just two months to go before the Char Dham Yatra, the roads are in detrimental conditions at many places. As such a safe and smooth travel will become an issue for the pilgrims.
The Kedarnath temple is slated to open for the pilgrims on 24th April. The temple town remains open for around six months after which it is closed for the winter season. The conditions of the roads though has led many people to question whether motor travel to Gaurikund will be possible at all or will the pilgrims have to travel on foot. With CM Harish Rawat promoting Uttarakhand tourism all over, the officials must speed up the process in order to ensure a hassle free tourist season in 2015.
