Making a Difference: M.A.D members brave the weather to transform wall murals at Gandhi Park
MAD completes seventeen wall transformation activities with two wall murals at Gandhi Park!
Doon based student’s activist group, Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD) completed seventeen wall murals in Dehradun today. Having already transformed shabby stretches of walls near Parade Ground, Subhash Road, Jakhan, Bhandari Bagh, Old Survey Road, near the Railway Station, etc.; today was another addition to MAD’s ongoing campaign.
More than 20 volunteers participated in this activity, held at Gandhi Park. The team first gathered and cleaned the wall where the paintings were to be drawn. After washing and cleaning the wall, the group divided into two; one each for the two walls to be transformed. Both teams then whitewashed the patches of walls where the murals to be drawn and then Prachi Batola, MAD’s painter for such activities and Nandita Khanduri an IMS Student drew the proposed paintings first by pencil so that the rest could all join in in-filling the pencil sketches with paints.
MAD, with all its members in the 15 to 23 age-group has been organizing all such activities through its own pocket money resources. Many onlookers complimented the young activists for their efforts and offered to join in. This activity was duly completed even as rain and sun continued to play hide and seek.
After the activity was completed a beautiful painting had now replaced the plain walls; and hence a strong message for keeping our localities clean and green had been delivered. Those who actively participated in the activity included Saurav Joshi, Saurabh Nautiyal, Arnav Ramola Coordinator Shardul Singh Rana and Founder- Chairperson Abhijay Negi .
