State Goverment planning to develop High Altitude Sports Center in Munsiyari
Munsiyari/Pithoragarh: In a bid to promote sports in the state the Uttarakhand Government is planning to convert the town of Munsiyari into a mountaineering activity hub. The Harish Rawat led government plans to build a 28 crore Mountaineering center as well as a 72 crore High Altitude Sports center with the help of the central government.
Situated at an altitude of 7380 ft from the sea level Munsiyari is all set to become the training grounds for mountaineering activities for athletes from across the nation. The sports directorate selected a 5 acre land in the region where the sports center would come up, after declaration by CM Rawat. The state government has prepared a Detailed Project Report and will soon send it the central government for its approval.
Apart from the landscape, the high altitude of munsiyari will help develop more stamina in the atheletes training here. The completion time of the high altitude sports center is estimated to be two years once the project is given the green signal.
