Thal-munsiyasri motorway blocked by locals for 3 hours

Locals reportedly unhappy with wild animals being rehabilitated in their area

Munsiyari/Pithoragarh: It was a perfect case for man-animal conflict as the people of Girgaon protested on the thal-munsiyari motorway. The locals blocked the road for three hours as a protest against the rehabilitation of wild animals from nearby villages to their area. The people were angry because these wild animals were destroying their crops and farms. The transportation of a truck full of buffalo’s yesterday morning, in the area proved to be the tipping point for the locals. They set out to catch the driver but he fled away leaving behind the animals and his truck.
The people then staged a protest on the main road, on getting the news deputy DM KK Mishra along with the police official’s visited the area and listened to the complaints of the locals. The vet agreed that some of the animals brought to the area were injured. The roadblock was removed after 3 hours on the assurance by the deputy DM to look into the matter.
