Government seals Hotel Radisson Blu Haridwar

Polluting river Ganga puts the 5 star hotel in the dock

Haridwar: Acting on the orders from the National Green Tribunal, the Government of Uttarakhand sealed 5 start hotel Radisson Blu in the Sidcul area of Haridwar. During the sealing process the officials cut the power supply of the hotel which caused the lifts to stop suddenly, the passengers though were brought out safely with the help of generator backup.

The administration has become very strict regarding the pollutant discharge in the river Ganga, as a result many hotels also got a warning notice from the government. An enquiry will also be set up on these hotels. The NGT in association with the state pollution control board had formed a committee to check all the big Ashrams, Hotels and Institutions. The team conducted out their survey from 23rd April the 30th April. Hotel Radisson Blu was the big name among the list of violators. On Friday the case was taken in the NGT court where HC Semwal, DM Haridwar represented the government. The National Green Tribunal ordered immediate sealing of the hotel which was carried out on Saturday by the SDM in the presence of the pollution control board team.

The Hotel Manger of Radisson Blu however said that the hotel did not violate any norms and that they had not received any notice regarding the matter prior to the sealing.
