ABCD 2 dances its way to box office record books
Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starer 3D dance movie “ABCD-Any Body Can Dance 2” opened to packed houses across the nation to register the highest opening day collections for a film in 2015. The film, produced by Disney India and starring Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor and Prabhudeva, was released in 2,000 screens across the country, with around 500 to 700 of them being 3D screens. This is India’s largest 3D release till date.
ABCD 2 box office collections reached a high of Rs 14.30 crore in domestic market, making it the No. 1 movie of 2015 based on opening day’s take, breaking the previous record held by Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back at Rs 13.05 crore.Analysts believe that the film has performed on the back of a strong marketing push by the studio, and the novelty of a dance-based movie in Bollywood.
The story of the movie revolves around Suresh (Varun Dhawan) who aspires to become a big dancer and fulfill his mother’s desire and his childhood friend Vinnie (Shraddha Kapoor) wants to become the best hip-hop dancer in the country.
