About EOS 5DS and EOS 5DSR

EOS 5DS and EOS 5DSR – two flagship EOS cameras are equipped with a 50.6-megapixel 35mm, full-frame CMOS sensor processors, making them the highest resolution DSLR cameras in Canon’s extensive range. The EOS 5DS R features cancellation of its Optical Low Pass Filter (LPF) effect. This allows the camera to take full advantage of the extremely high resolution sensor and capture very fine levels of detail and texture. The tradeoff is the potential appearance of Moire patterns while shooting. This makes the EOS 5DS R suitable for commercial and studio photography where the shooting environment is controlled and extremely high resolution is needed for massive prints. The EOS 5DS features a functional LPF, just like other DSLR cameras in the Canon lineup. This dynamic duo have been developed specifically for those users who need to capture even the finest level of detail, especially studio, commercial and advertising photographers. Additionally consumers who are passionate about landscape photography will also greatly benefit from the dramatically higher resolution.
With a 50.6-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor, the EOS 5DSR and EOS 5DS have by far the highest resolution in Canon’s history of EOS cameras. Both cameras incorporate technologies to enhance image resolution with minimal side-effects.
To complement the high resolution sensors, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R feature a new “Fine Detail” Picture Mode that allows configuring the sharpness level, thereby allowing for even more fine detail capture. This is especially important for commercial, product and advertising photography where fine textures of materials are represented with the highest possible level of detail and resolution.
To handle the ultrahigh pixel count, Canon has introduced a new cam-motor driven mirror mechanism to minimize mirror vibrations that occur and cause image shake.
The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R also feature a brand new 150,000-dot RGB+IR Metering and automatic exposure system. This newly developed metering system ensures proper exposure and accurate colour tones even in the most challenging lighting conditions.
Both EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R feature the latest dual DIGIC 6 image processors, allowing for a maximum continuous shooting speed of 5.0fps, at a full resolution of 50.6 megapixels.
