Hardwork finally pays off for Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane’s consistent performances especially in the test arena were finally rewarded as the right hander was given charge of leading the Indian team for the ODI series in Zimbabwe. The selectors should faith in the batsmen who was dropped from the recently concluded Bangladesh series. Rahane has been one of the most consistent batsmen for India over the last 18 months. So when MS Dhoni decided to drop him, it came as shock. Dhoni cited Rahane’s inability to rotate the strike as the reason for his demotion.

Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has been recalled back to the limited over format. So too the likes of Murali Vijay, Manoj Tiwary and Robin Uthappa. Ravindra Jadeja has been dropped from the side after a string of poor performances. Umesh Yadav too has been dropped and he will be part of the India A squad which was selected alongside.
