Parupalli Kashyap stages remarkable comeback to stun the world number 1 in the Indonesian Open

Ace Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap rallied to shock World No. 1 Chen Long,in the quarter finals of the Indonesian Open Super Series badminton tournament here today.The Commonwealth Gold medalist continued his giant killing spree as he reached the semi finals of the tournament.

Long had a 7—1 head-to-head record against Kashyap prior to today and Reigning world champion Chen began on a positive note against world No.12 Kashyap, winning seven consecutive points to clinch the first game 21-14 at ease at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

But Kushyap was not to be denied as he came back strongly to win three consecutive points to level up things by taking the set 21-17. The deciding set saw the 28 year old open a massive lead of 9-3 against the world number 1. From then on it was only a matter of time before the inevitable as Long became the latest victim of India’s number 1 male shuttler.
