India clinch series after a clean sweep over Zimbabwe
Men in Blue register a 3-0 victory over the hosts
An all-round performance gave India a comprehensive 83-run victory in the third ODI as Zimbabwe, chasing 277 to win, were bowled out for 93 in 42.4 overs at the Harare Sports Club on Tuesday. The victory also meant that India maintained a clean sheet in the series over the hosts. Kedar Jadhav struck a career-best 105 and Manish Pandey made 71 to take India to a fighting total in the final one-day international of the three-match series.
Young Guns steps up
India were without the services of their more experienced players like Dhoni, Kohli and Ashwin, the young players who were drafted in place of the seniors shared responsibility under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane to lead the team to a series victory over the African nation.
India skipper Ajinkya Rahane on Tuesday applauded his team for playing as a unit, saying that every member of the side contributed in the 3-0 whitewash against Zimbabwe in the ODI series.”The partnership between Manish (Pandey) and Kedar (Jadhav) was crucial for us. I am very happy for the boys. They were hungry and up for the series. (Ambati) Rayudu got his hundred in the first game, (Murali) Vijay in the second and Kedar here. The bowlers chipped in as well. We played as a team,” said Rahane at the post-match presentation ceremony.
