Nation pays homage to martyrs on 16th Anniversary of Vijay Diwas

People from all over country have reached Drass Kargil to Celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas. The Kargil war was fought from 3rd May to 26 July in 1999 against Pakistan intruders who in the winters of 1998 transgressed into this side of territory along the Line of Control and occupied fortified defences overlooking the National Highway 1-A in Drass, Kargil and Batalik of the Ladakh region.

“Won’t allow another Kargil”: Army Chief

Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag yesterday said the armed forces will not let another Kargil-like conflict to take place. After paying tribute to the Kargil War martyrs at a memorial here, he said the “Army won’t allow another Kargil”.

1500 Ex-servicemen to protest against one rank one pension

About 1,500 ex-servicemen in the city have decided to lead a protest march against government lethargy in implementing the ‘One-rank, one-pension scheme’ on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Social activist Anna Hazare will join former servicemen protesting against the Centre. “This is wrong. If we have to run the nation then the transparency matters a lot,” Anna said in Pune on Saturday before leaving for Delhi.
