All India Junior Badminton Ranking Tournament gets underway
• Tournament will be held from 4 th to 10th august 2015
• The venue will be parade Ground and Badminton hall in Maharana pratap sports college Raipur.
• Tournament being held for the under 17 and under 19 categories.
• Uttarakhand’s Lakshya Sen (ranked 2nd in India) is the top seed in the under 17 boys category.
Dehradun: The All India Junior Badminton Ranking Tournament was inaugurated by Sports minister Dinesh Agarwal and the sports secretary Shailesh Bagauli here in the state capital. The week long tournament is being held at Parade ground and Badminton Hall in Maharana Pratap sports college, Raipur. The tournament received a record breaking 1400 entries for the under 17 and under 19 categories showing the rise in the popularity of the sport coinciding with India doing well in the International arena.
According to the latest BAI Rankings in under – 17 Boys category out of top 10 players, 8 are participating in the tournament. Lakshya Sen of Uttarakhand is holding the 2nd Rank in the country, and he is the top seed in this tournament. In Girls 5 players from the top 10 are participating in the tournament and Uttarakhand’s (Akshita Bhandari is holding the 36th rank in the country followed by Unnati Bisht holding the 39th rank, Kanak Rawat ,has been ranked 50th and Ishita and Sneha sharing the 54th rank).
