Facebook reaches a new high- records a billion user login in a single day

World’s most popular social networking site recorded a billion user logins in a single day for the first time since it tool the internet world by storm a little over a decade a ago.

“We just passed an important milestone. For the first time ever, one billion people used Facebook in a single day,” Zuckerberg posted on Facebook yesterday.

The California-based social networking giant boasted of the new benchmark which was set on Monday.

Magical Monday for Facebook

“On Monday, 1 in 7 people on Earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family,” the Facebook CEO said.

“Our community stands for giving every person a voice, for promoting understanding and for including everyone in the opportunities of our modern world,” he said. “A more open and connected world is a better world. It brings stronger relationships with those you love, a stronger economy with more opportunities, and a stronger society that reflects all of our values,” wrote Zuckerberg.

“Thank you for being part of our community and for everything you’ve done to help us reach this milestone. I’m looking forward to seeing what we accomplish together,” he said.

Facebook has nearly 1.5 billion users who log in at least once a month, but this was the most in a single day. Most of the billion people who logged in on Monday were outside the U.S. and Canada. Of Facebook’s overall users, more than 83 percent come from other countries. This is also where Facebook’s next billions of users will likely come from as it grows.
