  • Cites lack of officers in the state as the reason for extension

Dehradun: Opposing the central government’s decision regarding deputation of 2 IAS and one IFS officer in the state, the Uttarakhand government has written to the center seeking an extension on the decision. “Citing an acute shortage of IAS officers in the state, the government will ask the Centre to extend the deputation of Secretary Vinod Sharma, Secretary Damyanti Dhorey and Secretary Vinod Fonia,” an official said.

Faced with an acute shortage of bureaucrats, the Uttarakhand Government has written to the Centre to extend the deputation of two Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officers and an Indian Foreign Services (IFS) officer serving in the state. Both Vinod Sharma and Damyanti Dhorey belong to the UP cadre and are on deputation in the state. The UP government has given an NOC to Vinod Sharma for his stay in Uttarakhand but the Central Government is yet to respond. In Secretary Vinod Fonia’s case, who belongs to the IFS, the Centre has so far not responded to a letter written by the state seeking the extension of his deputation to Uttarakhand.
