Uttarakhand’s radio App launched in the United States
In a welcome news for Uttarakhand’s folk music’s lover, users can now listen to their favorite artists whenever they want. The Android version of Uttarakhand’s first radio application was launched on the occasion of India Day at New York, USA, on August 22.
“Uttarakhand Radio” is the brainchild of Sailesh Upreti, who said, “The application is the first of its kind and users can not only enjoy the state’s regional music 24×7 but also share their views, concerns or knowledge related to Uttarakhand by sending audio recordings via Whatsapp. Shortlisted audios will be played by the application administrators on the radio.”
Aimed at bringing the regional music of Uttarakhand, current affairs and much more onto users’ mobile phones, the Uttarakhand radio application also aims to be used as an educational platform to teach regional languages of the state.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Shailesh Upreti, who designed the application, said: “On the occasion of 5th death anniversary of Girish Chandra Tiwari, one of the greatest poet and visionary, it’s my pleasure and privilege to dedicate free Android app of state’s first Internet radio to him and Uttarakhand lovers across the globe. The application will play Uttarakhandi music, folklores and updates 24/7. The application has become a reality due to untiring and enthusiastic support of many people, and some of the key team members are neither Uttrakhandi nor Indian; after all music has no language.”
The application is available free of cost and can be downloaded from Google play Store or by clicking on this link. Users can not only enjoy folk culture and talks related to the state 24/7, anywhere, but also share their views, concerns or knowledge related to Uttarakhand by sending audio recordings through WhatsApp.
The team now plans to launch the app in iOS and Windows platforms.
