The Congress party presodent of Uttarakhand feels that the central government is neglecting Uttarakhand. He further added that the Uttarakhand Congress party has launched a new campaign “उत्तराखण्ड का हक दो, उत्तराखण्ड को न्याय दो” (Give Uttarakhand Rights and Justice), the party will launch “जवाब दो, हिसाब दो” (Give answers, give accounts) program in the first phase against the 5 Members of Parliament from Uttarakhand in their New Delhi residence. The above campaign will be carried out on the 13th of August.

Speaking at a press conference at the Congress Bhawan in Dehradun, Kishore Upadyay said that Uttarakhand has played an integral part in the defence mechanism of the country, on one hand the Himalayas have kept intruders at bay, while on the other hand the very same mountains are the source of the sacred rivers of Ganga and Yamuna. He said that all the previous central governments especially the Congress governments  have always given a special status to Uttarakhand, but since the present government has come into power it has been oblivious to the plight of Uttarkhand. He continued by saying that the state Congress committee has constantly been asking the central government to put Uttarakhand under the special state category, allot a budget for the cleaning up of river Ganga in Uttarakhand, grant reservation to the people of Uttarakhand in central government jobs, give a green bonus to protect the environment of Uttarakhand, but the BJP seems to neglect all these requests.
