2 foreigners killed as Shimla-Kalka toy train derails

Two bogies of a chartered toy train derailed on Shimla-Kalka route near Parwanu in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday killing two foreigners and injuring 10 others.

The train derailed near Taksal station, some two kilometres from Kalka, Neeraj Sharma, CPRO, Northern Railway, told a news channel. According to him, two foreigners were killed in the accident while five others were injured.

Three coaches of the four-coach train derailed at 12:55 pm near a curve, Sharma said. The train was a tourist special chartered train whose booking had been done through IRCTC.

While the injured were first taken to a hospital in Kalka, they are now being shifted Max Hospital, Chandigath. Two of them are reported to be serious.
