Three killed, many injured as mini bus falls into gorge

Tehri: Three persons were killed and 29 were injured when a Srinagar-bound bus fell into a gorge, near Jakhand (Takoli) village, in Tehri district today.

A joint team of the police and district disaster response reached the spot and retrieved the bodies from the gorge. The injured were taken to the Srikot government hospital.

While one deceased has been identified as Sohan Singh, a resident of Gangnali Srikot in Tehri Garhwal, the identities of the other two are yet to ascertained.

The condition of five of the injured is stated to be critical. The deceased have been identified as Mohan Singh, 53, (Srinagar), Arvind Chamoli, 28 (Rudraprayag) and Harish Lal (52) Uttarkashi. Among the injured passengers there are five women and seven children.

Thirty of the injured have been admitted in a government hospital at Srinagar, while three critically injured have been referred to a hospital in Dehradun. The three critically injured are Dinesh Gosain, Rajendra Kumar and Amit Kumar.
