Cong leader asks CM to make Indira Hridayesh deputy CM of Uttararkhand

Senior Congress leader Dhirendra Pratap who enjoys a status equivalent to a state minister sprung a major surprise on Thursday by requesting chief minister Harish Rawat to make give the charge of deputy chief minister to senior minister Indira Hirdayesh.

Supporting the point Pratap claimed that Rawat since taking over the charge as CM had made several announcements which need to be fulfilled at the earliest. To ensure proper monitoring and time-bound completion of the projects, the Congress leader said that Hirdayesh, with her vast experience, was the “perfect” choice and needs to be elevated to the post of Deputy CM.

Dhirendra Pratap, in a statement, said Indira Hridayesh should be given the important task of “programme implementation” so that she could fulfil thousands of promises and declarations made by the Chief Minister after he assumed the charge as the head of the state government in 2014.

He said implementing these assurances on the ground would be a big challenge and an issue in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

“If we want to get an absolute majority, it is important that people have faith in us and our policies. Therefore it is extremely important for the party that all the promises made to people were fulfilled before the elections. Hirdayesh is a senior and vastly respected leader and her monitoring could help in time-bound completion of projects,” he added.
