Another sex racket busted in Doon

Dehradun:  In a short span of three days, Dehradun police have busted the second major sex racket in the state capital. While 10 persons involved in the racket have been arrested, the Doon police have rescued eight girls, who were brought to the state capital from Nepal and different parts of the country and forced into flesh trade. The rescued girls are from Nepal, West Bengal and New Delhi.

SSP Dehradun Sadanand Date told TOI that the rescue and arrests were made in two separate locations under Patel Nagar police station.

“At the first location in Dehra Khas area, the racket was being operated by Sanjay Singh and wife. Two others identified as Virendra Kumar and Anoop Kumar were also arrested from the house. The police team rescued three girls from the spot,” the SSP said.

Meanwhile, two women, who are sister-in-law, ran the second racket at Doon enclave Patel Nagar. The two lived in Garhi Cantt area and taken a house on rent in Patel Nagar for the illegal activity. Four persons identified as Sikander Hanif, Luvkesh Singh, Prakash Thapa and Kumar Magar, who acted as middlemen, were also caught during the raid. From this house, the police team was successful in rescuing five girls.

Earlier on December 15, the Clement Town police of Dehradun had arrested eight persons, including six alleged women sex workers, from a house in Prakriti Vihar. The gang operated from a rented house, belonging to a retired defence official.
