Fully automated petrol pump to come up in Rudrapur

2nd city in Uttarakhand to get fully automatic petrol pump

Rudrapur: Rudrapur city in Udham Singh Nagar district is all set to become the second in the state and 15th in the country to have ‘fully automated’ petrol pumps. The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) decided to initiate the automation of petrol pumps in the town on Friday.

The facility will be introduced at 16 pumps of the total 42 pumps in UDS Nagar district, while three will be made fully automated in Rudrapur city. The facility will be later extended to all 42 pumps in the districts till the end of December 2016. The officials have also planned to implement the project in entire Kumaon division with a total of 96 pumps in six districts of the division.

Giving information, Amit Prakash Suryavanshi, assistant manager (retail sales), IOC, said, “At these retail outlets, customers will get automated printed bills and can view the transaction of fuel at any time on the automation screen present at the outlet.”

The functioning of pumps will be monitored from the Mumbai head office and all transactions will be saved in the server of the organization for customers to access it 24X7. Such automation of pumps has been done only in Dehradun so far.

With the IOC’s initiative, Rudrapur — which is a class-III city compared to other metros or class-I cities, will be the first class-III to have such a facility.

At present, a total of 14 Indian cities have been provided fully automated petrol pumps. Some of the places include New Delhi, Dehradun, Mumbai, Amritsar, Kolkata, Chennai, Agra, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.
