KMVN starts tourism centre in Almora

The centre will exclusively take bookings for paragliding, river rafting, rock climbing and trekking.

In a bid to promote adventure tourism activities in the region, the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) opened its booking centre for adventure tourism in Almora on Friday.

This is the first such centre to come up in Kumaon and will be dedicated entirely to adventure tourism activities in the region.

Giving information on the initiative, KMVN regional manager DK Sharma said, “Almora is a major entry point for the entire region of Kumaon and has great scope for adventure tourism. It’s also the central point of all kinds of adventure tourism activities that take place in Kumaon. With the opening of a centre, focus on adventure tourism will increase and encourage tourism here. It will also help us receive more bookings. Sometimes, people who don’t opt for KMVN’s adventure tourism packages, but they stay at the KMVN huts located on the glacier trekking routes. Those bookings will also be done from the Almora centre.”

The KMVN is also mulling to open similar centres in every district of Kumaon from next year.
As per information, KMVN offers adventure tourism in Pindari glacier, Adi Kailash, Kafni glacier, Shitlakhet, Panchachauli, Mukteswar, Kali river, Ramganga river and Binsar sanctuary among others.
