Alan Rickman a.k.a Professor Snape loses fight against cancer
British actor Alan Rickman, a veteran of dozens of films, has died at age 69. Rickman, was most well-known for portraying the complicated villain Severus Snape in the films based on J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books. The death of Alan Rickman—who inhabited the character of Snape over eight Potter films—hits especially hard because we’ve already had to say goodbye to Snape once.
Rickman appeared in an array of blockbuster films during his prolific career, from 1988’s Die Hard with Bruce Willis to 2003’s Love Actually and the Harry Potter films.
“There are no words to express how shocked and devastated I am to hear of Alan Rickman’s death,” Rowling said on Twitter. “He was a magnificent actor & a wonderful man.”
