Tourism Dept. organizes skiing training at Khuliya Top

The Uttarakhand Tourism Department has started a 10-day snow skiing training programme at the Khuliya Top (3,500 metre) in Munsiyari in Pithorgarh district that is covered under over one feet of snow.

“We are celebrating the silver jubilee of skiing at the Khuliya Top on Saturday. The Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) had started snow skiing here in 1991,” said S Tamta, District Tourist Officer.

The Khuliya Top is another ridge in Munsiyari after Betulidhar that has a good potential of snow skiing as it receives heavy snow for some time during the winter. “We are celebrating the silver jubilee of the launch of snow skiing at the Khuliya Top by Dinesh Gururani, Adventure Tourism in charge at KMVN in Pithoragarh district. The Khuliya Top is at 3,500 metre and has over 2 km long slopes suitable for the sport,” said Puran Pandey, spokesperson for the Munsiyari Tour Operators’ Association.
