Kailash yatra distance to reduce from this year

Pithoragarh: The 27-km distance of the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage from Lipulekh Pass to Mangti in Dharchula subdivision of Pithoragarh district will be reduced from this year, as the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN), the nodal agency for the yatra, has decided to ferry pilgrims in big jeeps from Garbiyang to Nabhidhang on the road supported by a bridge at Napalchu village constructed by the BRO.
Dhiraj Garbiyal, Managing Director of the KMVN, stated this at Nainital after chairing a meeting on preparations for the yatra this year. “We have started erecting huts at every camp on the track route of the Kailash Mansarovar yatra scheduled to begin on May 1,” he said.
Garbiyal said the return distance from the first track route of the Sirkha camp to the last one at Lipulekh Pass is 164 km, which would be reduced to 110 km with the use of vehicles on the road that was ready with the completion of the bridge at Napalchu village. “We hope to ferry pilgrims from Garbiyang to Nabhidhang in jeeps from this year,” he added.
