Twitterati congratulates India and Kohli for win

Indian cricket team was swamped with congratulatory messages on twitter for their convincing six-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan in an ICC World Twenty20 match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata with batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar leading the charge by thanking Virat Kohli for his match-winning knock.

Kohli was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of quality of batsmanship as he played a special knock of unbeaten 55 runs off just 37 balls on a difficult Eden pitch to guide India home.

Soon after reaching his fifty, Kohli took a bow for Tendulkar, who was present at the stands and the batting stalwart was floored by the gesture.

“Great Win Team India!! Thank you for the innings and gesture Virat Kohli! Team India returning to the dressing room after the game, waved to me. Felt like I never left the team…,” Tendulkar wrote on his twitter handle.

West Indian batting great Brian Lara too hailed Kohli’s knock but expressed disappointment over Pakistani spinners performance on the turning wicket.

“Brilliant innings @imVkohli on a tough surface… Well done!!! Expected more from @SAfridiOfficial and @realshoaibmalik with the ball,” Lara Tweeted.

For India captain Anil Kumble and batsman-turned commentator VVS Laxman too was full of praise for Kohli’s brilliant innings.

“Great win!! Fabulous innings by @imVkohli!! Crucial partnership with @YUVSTRONG12 #IndvsPak #WT20,” Kumble tweeted.

Laxman added: “Fantastic win for India??As always @imVkohli was exceptional??It’s amazing 2 see the way he adapts& performs in the most difficult situations??”

Former India spinner Bishan Bedi also hailed the Indian team’s performance, especially Kohli’s knock.

“VKohli is class above the rest & duly helps Ind beat the Eden jinx against Pak while keeping winning run intact-Well done Ind-Gr8 stuff..!!,” he tweeted.

“Another match winning innings in a run chase from Virat & made it look like a stroll in the park. Well done India! #WT20 #INDvPAK,” cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjerekar wrote on his twitter page.
