Andy Murray vs Stan Wawrinka to clash in French Open Semi Finals

Andy Murray vs Stan Wawrinka : Marquee Semi final lined up at Roland Garros

Andy Murray and defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka have lived upto their seeding as the 2nd and 3rd seeds navigated their way through to the semi finals. The Scot would be looking to continue his rich vein of form which saw him defeat the world number 1 Novak Djokovic a fortnight ago. Wawrinka on the other hand is carrying the Swiss hopes after his more celebrated compatriot Roger Federer had withdrawn from Roland Garros due to injury.

The match promises to be an exciting prospect as both Murray and Wawrinka have the ability to conjure up some magical shots or be equally erratic in their shot making. It will be a test of Wawrinka’s dreaded one hander against Murray’s retrieving abilities and should give the spectators something to look forward to after the withdrawal of big guns like Federer and Nadal.

The two players have met 15 times with the Scot leading their head to head 8-7.

Djokovic to face Dominic Theim in the 2nd semi final

World Number 1 Novak Djokovic who became the first ATP player to breach the 100 million dollar mark in career prize money when booked his place in the quater final of the French Open 2016 brushed aside the challenge of Czech Tomas Berdych. The Serb scored a straight sets victory over his opponent as he cruised to yet another semifinal in Paris.

Unlike last mach Djokovic didn’t lose focus and won the match with relative ease. Djokovic’s opponent though had to overcome the gutsy David Goffin in a four setter which he won after dropping the first set.
