Bear found taking a swim in Naini lake

Nainital: Locals and tourists alike were treated to a spectacle on Sunday morning as a Himalayan bear was found enjoying a swim in Naini lake. The animal is believed to have come from the ladia forests which is about two kms from the lake to take a dip in the lake.

After a crowd assembled to take in the bizarre sight at the lake, the animal got frightened and ran towards the jungles of Ayarpata hills.
A forest department team has been deployed to rescue the animal. Tejasvni Arvind Patil, divisional forest officer, Nainital division, said, “Teams have been already deployed to rescue the animal. The bear probably came from the adjacent Ladia forest. Warnings have been issued to the public to take precautions. We will rescue the animal soon.”
