Landslide shuts Mussoorie-Tehri road for over 8 hours

The Mussoorie-Tehri road was shut for nearly eight hours due to landslip near Landour Civil Hospital. Two tourist vehicles were also stuck in the landslip. Locals vented their ire at the PWD that responded late causing great deal of inconvenience to tourists and commuters. PWD officials reached the site to clear the debris at around 3 pm. The Pushta, near Civil Hospital, also caved in due to heavy rains. An electric pole was damaged as a tree was uprooted with the retaining wall subsiding near Wynberg Allen School. Another tree was uprooted near Company Garden and Golden Palm Hotel. People had to face a great deal of inconvenience due to mud-debris on the road.

16 roads in Tehri shut due to landslides

Sixteen roads were shut for traffic due to landslips and mud debris triggered by overnight rain in the Tehri Garhwal district today.

Several roads were blocked due to land subsidence, making it difficult for the people to commute. The level of the Tehri Dam lake was around RL 772.95 m and around 421 cumax of water was released from the dam.

Sources in the Disaster Management Department said Thati-Kot-Ghandialsaud road, Kilkleshwar-Silki Khal road, Kirti Nagar-Badyargad road, Kirti Nagar-Mathiyan Gaon, Duggada-Suad-Piplidhar road, Khajra-Bainwadi road and Ghansali-Akhodi road remained shut due to landslip.
