Hyundai Elite i20 gets automatic transmission and other upgrades

Automobile major Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) on Tuesday launched a new variant of its premium compact hatchback Elite i20 with automatic transmission and enhanced safety features.

According to the company, it has introduced new 1.4L Kappa petrol engine with four speed automatic transmission in Elite i20.

The company has also added safety reinforcement features such as six airbags, speed sensing auto door lock and height adjustable front seat belts on Elite i20 and i20 Ac ..
The Elite i20 Asta (O) petrol is priced at ₹ 7,75,828, while the Asta (O) diesel is priced at ₹ 8,99,992 (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). Prices for both grades have seen a hike of around ₹ 15,000 over the outgoing rates. The autobox has been made available on the mid-level Magna trim, priced at ₹ 9,01,812 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new 1.4-litre Dual VTVT, four-cylinder petrol engine is listed on Hyundai India’s website, and an official launch can be expected in the following days. The motor is capable of producing 98bhp of power at 6000rpm and 132Nm of torque at 4000rpm. The 4-speed torque converter doing duty here is the same unit that is seen on the Verna 4S and Grand i10. The i20 automatic does not get any specific feature additions but misses out on several features instead like ABS, reverse parking sensors, front fog lamps, auto headlamps, touchscreen infotainment system, smart key, projector lights, DRLs and much more.
