Uttarakhand transport department strike goes on for 3 consecutive day

Workers at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) and Assistant Regional Transport Offices on strike

the agitating ministerial employees of the transport department continued their strike against dealer point vehicle registration system.

Work related to vehicle registrations, driving licences, permits, fitness and tax collections has come to standstill in transport offices across Uttarakhand which has left public in the lurch.

According to Sandeep Saini, ARTO (administration), Dehradun, “Despite repeated pleas and attempts to convince them, the employees are still not ready to resume duties. We have been trying to tell them the benefits of dealer point registration but they are demanding roll back of the decision.”

Over 250 ministerial employees, under the banner of Uttarakhand Transport Ministerial Employee Union, are protesting against the implementation of dealer point vehicle registration system which was started in Dehradun on pilot basis from December 1. Employees fear that the new system will lead to job loss for data entry employees working in various RTOs and ARTOs.
