5.8 magnitude earthquake strikes Uttarakhand; Rudraprayg epicenter

An earthquake of Magnitude 5.8 Magnitude has jolted the hilly state of Uttarakhand. As per latest reports, the epicentre of the quake was at Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand.

Strong tremors were felt in many parts of Delhi and the NCR region including Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. In fact, Chandigarh also felt strong tremors. Residents of the national capital rushed out of their homes as the tremors lasted for over five to ten seconds.
Earthquake of Magnitude:5.8, Occurred on:06-02-2017, 22:33:08 IST, Lat:30.5 N & Long: 79.1 E, Depth: 33 Km, Region:Distt. Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand as per the Indian Meteorological Department data.

Panicked people rushed were seen on the streets as a major quake struck in Uttarakhand at around 10:35pm. The depth of the earthquake is said to be 21 km. No loss of life has been reported at the time of writing. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asked for a detailed report on the earthquake and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been put on high alert.
