Ministry of Road Transport & Highways to host Grand Finale of 36 hour Smart India Hackathon, 2017 in Nagpur

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways is hosting the ‘Smart India Hackathon, 2017- Grand Finale’ on 1st & 2nd April, 2017 simultaneously at Nagpur and 25 other different nodal centers across India. Launched on 9th November, 2016 in New Delhi by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the Smart India Hackathon, 2017 aims to harness creativity and expertise of students, build a platform for ‘Startup India, Standup India’ campaign, crowd sources solutions for improving governance and quality of life and create opportunities to citizens to provide innovative solutions for the emerging new India. Out of 637 ideas received, 84 teams comprising 672 youngsters have been selected.

Sanjay Jaju Director, National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited and the Nodal Officer for MoRTH informed that during the Grand Finale, the selected teams will work nonstop for 36 hours to build products based on their ideas. The newly developed products will be judged by eight experts and prizes will be awarded for the Winner, 1st Runner up and 2nd Runner up. Later, at least five best teams will work with MoRTH to ensure smooth implementation of the proposed new ideas by the Ministry.
