CM Trivendra Rawat announces Rs 10 cr for Lohaghat, Champawat roads

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat yesterday announced Rs 10 crore for the construction and upkeep of roads in the Lohaghat and Champawat Assembly constituencies of the state.

The Chief Minister, who was on a day’s visit to Champawat district of Kumaon, today made this announcement while interacting with general public at Tanakpur. He said Rs 10 crore would be utilised for the construction of a better road network in Lohaghat and Champawat Assembly constituencies, besides strengthening the existing road facilities in the region.

Trivendra Singh Rawat also announced to accord central workshop status to Tanakpur roadways workshop. He also held that fencing would be done along both sides of the Purnagiri-Tanakpur road for safeguarding people from wild animal’s attacks. He said a tea garden at Champawat would be promoted in a big way and beautification measures taken both at Tanakpur and Champawat as part of Swachh Bharat Mission. He also announced the setting up of an eco park in Tanakpur.

Referring to region’s famous Purnagiri fair, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said an authority would be set up for promotion and better management of Purnagiri fair which he said kept historical significance with the region and the people of the state. He also called upon people to work towards greenery conservation. He said every individual must at least plant a sapling during the current monsoon.

On the proposed Pancheswar power project, the Chief Minister said the project would lead to immense development of the region. He admitted that initially people could face some inconveniences but asserted that in the long run, the area would witness speedy development.
