Dehradun, Haridwar to get pollution monitoring systems soon

To spread awareness on the rising levels of pollution in the state, the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board (CPCB) will soon set up air quality monitoring systems at Clock Tower in Dehradun and Har-ki-Pauri in Haridwar.

The pollution board is also going to host a series of programmes on All India Radio answering queries and addressing concerns on the degrading air quality.

CPCB member secretary, S P Subudhi, said, “Besides providing information on various aspects of pollution, the AIR show will respond to various queries and problems of the people. This would help us to intervene wherever required. It is time that people own up to community responsibility by contributing collectively in reducing pollution of all kinds.”
The monitoring system will be set up at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.According to board officials, the equipment would register particulate matter 10 and 2,5 as well as the level of sulphur-dioxide and nitrogen oxide in the air.
