Petroleum University student drowns in river Ganga in Rishikesh

A Petroleum University student died due to drowning while bathing in Neem Beach in Rishikesh. After a long search operation, the police jawans pulled the body from the Ganges. After the arrival of the family, the police will conduct a postmortem of the dead body. According to the police, this incident occured on Friday afternoon. Manjul Pandey (22) son of Umesh Pandey, of Almora studying in UPES Dehradun came to visit Rishikesh with ten friends. After rafting, he went to take a dip in the river at Neem Beach with friends. According to the witnesses, during the same time the feet of Manjul slipped and he went straight into deeper water of the Ganges River. Seeing this, his friends and the people around him started screaming and shouting. However, they could not save the drowning student. On receiving the information, the SDRF and the police reached the spot. After a lot of hardships, the body could be pulled out of the river. Muni-ki-reti Police Station incharge Manish Upadhyay said that Manjul was a resident of Almora. He was studying from Dehradun’s Petroleum University. The relatives of the deceased have been informed.
