Scam worth crores unraveled in Uttarakhand Van Vikas Nigam corporation
Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation’s (Van Vikas Nigam) divisional laning manager (DLM) office, East Haldwani has revealed a scam worth crores of rupees. After the intervention of the Prime Minister’s Office, it was found that the Assistant Accountant in this division, bypassing the rules and regulations, paid three crore rupees to his relatives including his wife during the last three years.
They were given money in lieu of trucks to get rid of the goods. The Additional Managing Director of the Corporation has agreed on the report of the Regional Manager, while recommending the Vigilance and Income Tax inquiry along with disciplinary proceedings. At the same time, according to the managing director of the corporation, STS Lepcha, the matter is being re-tested and action will be taken according to the rules.
Complaint about the transportation anomalies through trucks in DLM, East Haldwani was reported earlier in the Prime Minister’s Office. In the order of letters of the PMO October 4, 2017 and the letter of 17 October 2017 of the Raj Bhavan Uttarakhand, the matter was handed over to the Regional Manager (Western Region) of the Corporation, Dr. GC Pant.
The inquiry officer handed over the inquiry report to the Additional Managing Director (Kumaon Mandal) on October 25. After agreeing to the report, Additional Managing Director JS Suhag handed over the report to the managing director on December 20 with his recommendation.
It is mentioned in the report of Additional Managing Director that the Assistant Accountant Puran Singh Bisht had made gross financial irregularities in the name of slowdown of goods from the truck from 2015-16 to 2017-18 (till October 2017). During this, the Assistant Accountant paid his relatives including his wife to the tune of nearlyrupees three crore in different dates.
The report said that this person paid the amount of the corporation to the relatives including wife, in violation of the gross financial irregularities and the Public Service Conduct Manual. It was also expressed that this kind of irregularity has been done in other divisions and the relatives of this person have been given immoral and unfair treatment against the rules. In such a situation, Vigilance and Income Tax check should be conducted simultaneously with disciplinary action.
