Patiala violence: Curfew imposed; internet shut down
The situation remained tense in Punjab’s Patiala after four persons were reported injured in a clash between two groups. Curfew has been imposed in the area. Shiv Sena leader Harish Singla was arrested today after two groups clashed on Friday near the Kali Devi temple. The blame of violence has fallen on three senior police officers.
Patiala IG has been removed. While the Deputy SP and SHO have been shifted. Mukhwinder Singh Chhina has been made the new IG. While Deepak Parek will be the new SSP and Wazir Singh will be the new SP.
According to sources, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is very angry with the DGP of Punjab in the Patiala violence case. Many top officers could also face the wrath. Three officers have already been replaced in this case.
On this matter, the Deputy Commissioner of Patiala said, peace should be maintained. The situation is under control at present. Mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended to prevent the spread of rumours. FIR has been registered in three incidents. Evidence is being collected through the information received on the basis of video footage. He further said, we are conducting raids. He appealed to the people to maintain peace.
