Cantonment Board Polls: People prefer independent candidates

Dehradun: Cantonment board election results in Clement Town and Garhi brought disappointment for bigger parties, BJP and Congress, as nine out of total 15 candidates who won in the elections were Independent.
Dismal show by big parties
The two big parties of the state- BJP and Congress (which is also the ruling party in the state) failed to impress the voters this time round as only 2 candidates from the Congress were able to win their seats (from the areas of Garhi Cantt and Celment Town). The BJP fared a little better as it won 4 seats.

Results of Garhi cantt area were declared first in the morning.
