US Open 2023: Novak Djokovic creates history by winning 24th Grand Slam

Serbia’s legendary tennis player Novak Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev in the US Open title match on Sunday and captured his record 24th Grand Slam. Djokovic has now overtaken Serena Williams (23) and equaled Australia’s former No. 1 star player Margaret Court in terms of most Grand Slam wins. This is the fourth US Open title of his career. Djokovic has previously been US Open men’s singles champion in 2011, 2015 and 2018.

When Djokovic last reached the US Open final in 2021, Medvedev defeated him in the title battle and won the title. This time though Djokovic won in straight sets. Djokovic easily won the first set 6-3. After this, Medvedev tried to make a comeback in the second set, but Djokovic won in the tie breaker and won this set also by 7-6(5). After this, Medvedev could not match up to Djokovic’s level in the third set. The Serbian player won his 24th Grand Slam by winning the last set 6-3.

Novak Djokovic is the player who has won the most titles in men’s singles with 24 Grand Slams, but overall he will have to win one more Grand Slam to create history. With this 24th title, she has equaled Margaret Court, who had won the record number of titles in women’s singles. In such a situation, Djokovic would like to make this record in his name by winning the 25th Grand Slam in the Australia Open next year.
