Australia PM Scott Morrison wins general elections

In the parliamentary elections in Australia, the public has once again expressed confidence in the coalition led by Prime Minister Scott Morrison. Excited by the victory, Morrison expressed gratitude to the public and said that he has always believed in miracles. At the same time, his opponent opposition leader and the Australian Labor Party Bill Shorten has accepted his defeat and he has said that he is resigning.

However, in the exit poll for the first time in six years, the Labor Party was expected to win. 70 percent of the votes have been counted, in which Morrison’s alliance is either winning or going forward.

It is notable that voting was held on Saturday to select the new Prime Minister. This time the issue of climate change is shadowed in the elections. After five weeks of campaigning across the country, about 1.6 million Australian voters emerged at the polling booths to elect the Prime Minister of the country.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has thanked voters for re-election of their coalition in the general elections. He told supporters that he had ‘always believed in miracles’ because partial results showed the Liberal-National Coalition closer to the majority. At the same time, the leader of the Australian Labor Party Bill Shorten accepted the defeat of his party and said he would resign as party leader. Shorten told supporters in Melbourne, ‘Obviously Labor will not be able to form the next government. Shortly before the national interest, I had met him (Liberal leader, Prime Minister) to congratulate Scott Morrison.’
