No ration card for people earning above Rupees 5 lakh p.a

Dehradun: April 1st 2015 marked the beginning of a new financial year, and one of the key developments was the new ration card issuance rule. As per the state’s food security policy if a person is earning more than rupees 5 lakh per year no ration card will be issued to them.
A new financial year marks the beginning of applicant’s queuing up to get ration cards issued against their name but there have been changes this time round. The Uttarakhand Government has fixed an upper annual income limit of rupees 5 lakhs when issuing ration card. The new rules come on the back of the National Food Security bill in which APL and BPL categories have been merged together.
