Devanshi Khel and Sanskritik Mela website launched

Chief Minister Harish Rawat inaugurated the website of Partham Devanshi Khel and Sanskritik Mela (First Devanshi Game and Cultural Fair) on Sunday. CM stated that State Government may be successful in its efforts to strengthen the rural economy only with the active participation of local people and Gram Panchayat. Some individual initiatives have been taken in this regard but we need to convert these into collective ones. Our farms, animals, houses are integral part of our culture. People working with state and social services ought to participate in the efforts being made by the state government for preserving this culture.

CM Rawat asserted that youngsters have to take initiatives particularly to regain the cultural and traditional glory of the state. State Government have taken many initiatives to promote the traditional organic farming. We have taken decision to create demand for the local crops like Mandua, Chaulay, Ramdana, Kala Bhatt, Fafar, Jhingora etc. As result cost of Mandua and Kala bhatt have increased comparatively before. VAT would be exempted on the products made by these crops. Production of wine has been linked with local fruits under the Abkari policy. Hamara Per Hamara Dhan scheme has been started. A working plan is being prepared concerned with contract farming to utilize the barren farms. CM informed that state government is making efforts to protect the Folk artists and artisan. Pension scheme has been started for the artists and craftsmen aged above 60 years. State Government would provide assistance to the Self Help Groups in the marketing that are involve in the manufacturing of local products. Handicraft Institute would be set up in Almora. Scheme concerned with preserving the traditinal artitecure style of building would be implemented in Uttarakashi and Pithoragarh along with Jaunsar region.

President of organizing committee and ex-minister N S Rana apprised that Partham Devanshi Khel and Sanskritik Mela would be organized at Nainbagh (Tehri Garhwal) from 28th to 30th May 2015. Game compitions and cultural programmes will be held in the Fair. Folk artist Nandlal Bharti, senior journalists including other digniteries were present on the occasion.
