A big news is coming out for the youth thinking of pursuing higher education from the Garhwal division of Uttarakhand. Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University has decided to end the affiliation of 10 aided colleges including four big colleges of Dehradun.
This decision has been taken at a time when around 20,000 students have appeared for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for graduation and post graduation and are waiting for admission. Now, till when these colleges will be able to be affiliated with Sridev Suman University or other universities, it is not clear. Due to this, the students are worried about further studies.
HNB Garhwal Central University decided to disaffiliate 10 colleges affiliated to the university in the executive council meeting on 30th May. The council conveyed its decision by sending a letter to the state and central government as well. So that the government can take a decision on affiliation of these colleges with other universities.
Affiliation of these colleges ended
Garhwal Central University terminated the affiliation of non-government colleges, Dehradun’s DAV, DBS, MKP, SGRR PG College, DWT College, MPG College Mussoorie, Mahila Vidyalaya Degree College Haridwar, Chinmaya Degree College Haridwar, BSM College Roorkee, Degree college Paithani of Pauri Garhwal are included.
It was decided that from the session 2023-24 itself, all the 10 colleges will be unaffiliated with the university. These colleges were affiliated by the university from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2023. Information about this has been sent to the State and Central Education Ministry by letter, so that they can take further action from their level.
The Executive Council also decided that the University Administration will publish the information of all its affiliated and unaffiliated colleges on its website. The students who are already studying in these 10 colleges will take the examinations from the university itself and get the degree.
