High Five for Barcelona

Crowned Champions of Europe for the fifth time

Barcelona were crowned kings of Europe for the fifth time after beating Juventus 3-1 in a pulsating Champions League final at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on Saturday. Luis Enrique capped his first season as Barcelona’s head coach by matching Pep Guardiola’s feat from the 2008/09 season when the Catalans captured the European, Spanish league and cup titles.

Luis Suarez and Neymar scored second-half goals to give Barcelona a 3-1 Champions League final victory over Juventus to complete the three peat for the second time.An early goal by Barca’s Ivan Rakitic late last night was cancelled out by Juventus’ ex-Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, who equalised on 55 minutes. With both sides going all out for victory, Luis Suarez pounced on a parried Lionel Messi shot to give Barca their advantage back before Neymar sealed it with the final kick of the game on a lightning counter-attack in stoppage time. Interestingly, Both clubs played their eighth European Cup final and both clubs had the chance to complete the season with a treble.
“We are very happy. I have got a unique group of players. I never thought we would win the treble but one always tries to do their best job,” Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said.
