Man U beat Barcelona 3-1 in pre season opener

Wayne Rooney got on the scoresheet as Manchester United scored a morale-boosting 3-1 friendly victory over European champions Barcelona on Saturday. Louis van Gaal’s side picked up another pre-season win with David de Gea featuring before the Dutchman changed his entire starting XI mid-way through the second half.

With the victory Manchester United have been able to maintain their 100% tour record this season. Besides Rooney, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzaj also struck the decisive goals for Man U in the Santa Clara heat, putting them top of the table in the friendly competition.

“With a coach like Van Gaal and the kind of players they have, it is a team that are going for everything,” Luis Enrique told the media. He was speaking after a 3-1 defeat to the Red Devils in Santa Clara and admitted he was disappointed with the conditions at Levi’s Stadium.
