Winter session of Uttarakhand assembly to begin from December 4

The speculation of holding the winter session of the Legislative Assembly in Dehradun or Gairsain has ended. According to the notification issued by the Assembly Secretariat on Friday evening, the session will be held in Dehradun only from December 4. This is the first time since 2014, when there will be no assembly session in Garsain in a year. In such a situation, politics is also expected to heat up for the session and the opposition is in a mood to make it an issue.

Jagdish Chandra, Secretary Assembly, issued a notification on Friday. The session is expected to run till 10 December. The Assembly Secretariat sent a proposal to the state government to summon the session from December 4 to 10. This proposal was presented in the meeting of the state cabinet. However, the decision taken by the government in the cabinet regarding the assembly session was not given. But later it was revealed from official sources that the Cabinet has got approval for the third session in Dehradun. Since then the discussion about the session had started whether it would be in Garsain or in Dehradun. In fact, since 2014, a session of assembly was being held in Garsain every year.

In such a situation, speculations were being made about the final session of this year being held in Garsain. There was a politics about this too. However, then Assembly Speaker Premchand Aggarwal had made it clear that it is the government’s job to decide where and when to conduct the session. Legislative assembly preparations are in place for the session.

Now the controversy over the winter session is over. Notification of the session was issued on Friday by Secretary of Legislative Assembly Jagdish Chandra. The session will be held in Dehradun from December 4. The session is expected to last till December 10. During this period, the government is preparing to introduce many bills, while the opposition has also started finalizing the strategy to surround the government.
