Free Wifi zone to come up at Gairsain

Wifi zone to be set up ahead of the assembly session in the region

Chief secretary Rakesh Sharma, on a visit to Gairsain in Chamoli district, announced on Friday that the town, which is getting ready for a week-long state assembly session commencing on September 28, would be made a wi-fi zone within a couple of days to ensure seamless internet connectivity.

Addressing a meeting of officials including Garhwal commissioner C S Napalchalyal at Gairsain, Sharma said that the tehsil headquarters in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions would also be made wi-fi enabled along with Gairsain. “Although it is a time consuming process, efforts should be made to have this facility up and running before commencement of the state assembly session,” the CS said.

Construction in full swing

In addition to going hi-tech, work is ongoing for setting up of LED streetlights from Diwalikhal to Bhararisain, 5 km from Gairsain town, where the assembly building would be located is in full swing. The CS also ordered the water department to ensure adequate water supply during the assembly session. The structures are being made earthquake-resistant in view of the frequent seismic activity in the region, he added.
